Gardner Educational Teaching Network (GETN) is our daily news broadcast. There are three
anchors, two people at the cameras, one for the teleprompter, one for the sound
board, one for the DVD/VCR and CD equipment, and one works the video switcher.
The anchors are the people that talk on the show and the teleprompter is the
person that makes the words show up so the anchors can see their lines. The
camera people set up the shots that will show up on the TV screens in each of
the classrooms. The soundboard controls the sound of the microphones. The
video switcher changes the screens from one camera to another, the computer for
the weather, birthday, character trait, or PSA, or the character board with the
script for the pledge or our opening and closing credits. We do special segments
like the Pledge and National Anthem, This Day in History, What Is
Happening This Week, Birthdays, Weather, the Character Trait, Menus for Lunch
and Breakfast, Math Matters, Trivia, and more. GETN also allows us a way to show any
PSAs we make for special projects in EAST. It helps us get the word out to the
students and teachers to educate them and get their support.
